Therapy Services

The most important aspect of our work is developing a positive, rewarding therapeutic relationship with you and any family members.

Therapies we offer at Lifespan

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) evolved from CBT so is sometimes called “third wave CBT”. Instead of trying to weigh up the evidence for and against negative thinking and changing limiting behaviours, ACT takes into account that this isn’t always easy to do, or truly reflecting your reality.

ADHD Assessment

Lifespan Psychology offers gold-standard NICE approved ADHD diagnostic services for children from the age of 7, adolescents, and adults.

Autism Screening

Autism or Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) is a neurodevelopmental diagnosis which encompasses a broad range of experiences.

Behavioural Therapy

Behavioural Therapy is based on the idea that certain behaviours are reinforced by the context and environment, while others aren’t reinforced or rewarded so they become less engrained.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps individuals understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

Christian Counselling

Christian Counselling provides you with the opportunity to talk with a therapist who uses both evidence based skills whilst not forsaking biblical principles, prayer and the leading of the Holy Spirit to help you navigate through life’s challenges.

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) is used to help you to understand how your mind works and teach you the necessary skills to cultivate compassion toward both you and others. CFT is often used for people who struggle with self-criticism, feelings of shame or being unworthy, issues with emotional regulation and for those who have traumatic histories

Couples Therapy

Research shows couples wait on average 2-3 years after they first experience difficulties before they seek help. By this time, difficulties can feel entrenched and fairly hopeless. The main goal in therapy will be to help you and your partner understand each other better, and strengthen your emotional connection.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is effective if you struggle with intense emotions, self-harm urges, or patterns of impulsive behaviour. Unlike traditional Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), which focuses primarily on identifying and restructuring distorted thoughts, DBT adds a strong emphasis on emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and real-world coping skills.

Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)

Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) is a therapy, parenting approach and model for practice that uses what we know about attachment and developmental trauma to help children and families with their relationships.

Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR) is probably the most scientific brain-based therapy we offer at Lifespan Psychology for trauma and anxiety. The left and right hemispheres in the brain are stimulated in quick succession (known as bilateral stimulation) through rapid eye movements or sounds.

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT is based on the idea that emotions are central to our identity and are the primary source of meaning in our lives. Instead of suppressing or reasoning away emotions, EFT helps people access, process, and reorganise emotional experiences to support healthier patterns.

Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic Therapy shares many foundations with person-centred work, particularly in the belief of an individual’s innate potential for growth.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative Therapy is one of our favourites to deliver at Lifespan Psychology. We get to offer you a bit of every therapy technique we think you might benefit from. We get to draw from a number of different models to create a bespoke therapy experience for you.

Life Coaching

Our mission is to empower you to navigate life and career transitions with clarity, confidence and emotional insight. We help you understand the patterns you are repeating, reconnect with your authentic self and uncover what you truly want from your life.

Mindfulness

Have you ever wondered what the secret ingredient is of happiness and contentment in your life? Research shows that the ability to stay present in the moment is key to happiness, lower stress, depression and anxiety.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivation to change is much more complex than telling ourselves “No”. Motivational interviewing uses a number of empathic and goal-oriented techniques to encourage you towards your ultimate goal, even if you’re in pre-contemplation mode.

Narrative Therapy

The stories we tell ourselves can shape our identities, beliefs and emotions – our narratives of strength or fear that we pass on to the next generation. Alice Morgan said “a narrative is like a thread that weaves the events together, forming a story”.

Parent Consultations

Since COVID-19, mental health difficulties in children have increased 35% in the UK, and there is a shortage of child psychologists. Instead of face-to-face therapy for a child, which can be hard to access, indirect Parent Consultations are effective and have many benefits and can also take place online.

Person-centred Therapy

Person-centred Therapy is a warm, collaborative approach grounded in the belief that people have an innate capacity for growth when they’re met with genuine understanding and acceptance.

Schema Therapy

Have you ever noticed that certain patterns in your life keep repeating, like choosing similar partners, reacting really strongly to certain situations, or feeling alone even when people care about you? Schema Therapy is a type of therapy that helps you understand where these patterns come from and how to change them. Schema Therapy is a warm, relationship focused approach that helps you heal long-standing emotional patterns.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a therapeutic modality that welcomes the body as a source of information and vehicle for transformation.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy

Imagine you had woken up in the morning to discover a miracle had happened and the problem was no longer there. What is the first thing you and others would notice about you and your life? How would you feel? What would you be doing differently?

Systemic Therapy

Integrative Therapy is one of our favourites to deliver at Lifespan Psychology. We get to offer you a bit of every therapy technique we think you might benefit from. We get to draw from a number of different models to create a bespoke therapy experience for you.
